Job Summary
The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Manager is accountable for shaping, developing, and delivering the Bank's Environmental Social and Governance strategy, by aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The role will collaborate with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to raise the profile and understanding of the ESG agenda at Gatehouse Bank through ESG messaging and campaigns. The ESG Manager assists in overseeing the community manager and programs. This role will guide and govern the Bank's ESG reporting schedule, including the annual Sustainability Report.
Key responsibilities- Work closely with the Bank's ESG Forum, colleagues, and stakeholders to implement Gatehouse Bank's ESG Pillars.
- Develop clear and measurable objectives and targets to achieve within Gatehouse Bank's ESG strategy.
- Implement the ESG plan with clear timelines, regularly monitoring and reporting on ESG initiatives, including progress against objectives, targets, and budget.
- Challenge, support and influence the business to engage with Gatehouse Bank's ESG strategy and assist and engage with the Executive team in acting as champions and advocates of ESG.
- Author and manage the Bank's ESG reports consulting with appropriate stakeholders as required.
- Draft and review ESG-related policies and process documents.
- Create regular ESG updates and documents for Executive and Board leaders.
- Deliver the Bank's ESG Induction sessions to colleagues and new joiners to provide an overview of the Bank's ESG initiatives.
- Support the Community Manager to establish programs to engage colleagues and grow volunteering and fundraising activities across the business.
- Establish and develop relationships with strategic partners and third-party stakeholders.
- Act as a central liaison for Bank ESG operations.
- Manage the ESG Budget and supplier onboarding.
- Engage with stakeholders, create awareness, and promote Gatehouse Bank's ESG initiatives by working with the Communications team to deliver external and internal communications.
- Work with the Marketing team to provide ESG updates and customer content.
- Act as a Brand Ambassador for Gatehouse Bank with regards to ESG.
- Research and presentations will be required.
- Lead your team by role modelling Gatehouse Bank's values and behaviours. People managers are responsible for completing all colleague life cycle activities such as recruitment, performance review process, providing input, and encouraging colleague development with a focus on values, behaviours, and wellbeing to promote and enhance colleague engagement. People managers are also expected to adhere to all policies and procedures and ensure their team functions effectively.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this role, for which the role holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
- Passionate about the role ESG can play in the development of a successful business, and the drive to make a difference.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG, ideally gained through experience in a similar role and engagement in partnerships between the business and non-profit sectors.
- Knowledge of the Financial Services Sector.
- A proven track record in planning and managing projects end-to-end with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Ability to build credible relationships quickly and with integrity - with both external and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise and plan workloads effectively.
- Presentation and research skills.
- Prior experience with ESG reporting.
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
- An understanding of Shariah Finance.
