Job title - Regional Engineering Manager

Location- National

Salary - £58,750

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage and lead a team of surveyors, ensuring day-to-day work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Develop and implement the regional operating plan designed to exceed KPIs and SLAs for operations.
  • Communicate regular updates on regulations to ensure adherence.
  • Manage staff, oversee work schedules, and assign duties for compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of legislative, contractual, and operational requirements for in-service examination.
  • Provide site and management support to field staff as necessary.
  • Conduct staff reviews, appraisals, and performance management programmes.
  • Ensure inspections are conducted diligently and in accordance with the QA System.
  • Lead and manage customer complaints within your geographical area.
  • Address Engineer Surveyor discipline or performance issues as they arise.
  • Manage Engineer Surveyor sickness or absence issues, ensuring examinations are reorganised.
  • Resolve operational problems and liaise with clients and Regional Services Manager.
  • Ensure client statutory requirements are met regarding the Company's responsibilities.
  • Examine all plant on the contract schedule in accordance with accepted codes of practice.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical developments and changing Engineering Standards.
  • Employ the Company QA Systems in all service areas.
  • Review and monitor resource levels to ensure adequate cover for all examination types.
  • Ensure Engineer Surveyors allocation is correctly sized.
  • Verify vehicle mileages and travel times in line with company policies.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety policy.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for additional resources as necessary.
  • Maintain effective working relationships across internal stakeholder groups.
  • Lead on projects as required by the Operations Managers.
  • Undertake additional duties delegated by the Operations Manager or Senior Manager.
  • Participate in the Emergency Duty Manager roster throughout the year.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record of successfully managing regional teams.
  • Strong customer communication skills and confidence to make professional judgements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement experience.
  • Good commercial and financial acumen.
  • Ability to understand, manage, and deliver KPIs.
  • Self-organisation skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Apple products.
  • Clear understanding of industry protocol.
  • Previous experience in an Engineering role focused on in-service inspection is advantageous.
