Job Description

The Finance Team Leader is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the company's financial processes while driving accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage a dynamic team, analyse financial data, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee the daily activities of the accounting team
- Prepare, review and post journal entries, reconciliations and other accounting records
- Ensure preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in line with companies month end SLA
- Support & training to Accounting Assistant & Credit Controller
- Analyse financial data and present findings to the Finance Manager
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks by implementing appropriate controls
- Weekly cashflow forecasts and support to Finance Manager for longer term cash flow planning
- Act as a liaison between the accounting team and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration
- Support internal and external stakeholders by preparing required documentation and resolving queries
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders, including senior leadership regarding financial matters
- Address and resolve escalated issues within the accounting team
- Provide short-, mid- and long-term strategy for the team
- Working with external stakeholders to source financing for asset investment
- Management of key clients unique accounting requests
- Preparation of reports with data for Finance manager to review and present
- Management of Fixed Asset Register, Accruals & Prepayments Schedules, Hire purchase interest etc
- Due diligence and thoroughness; approaches duties with robustness and inquisitiveness
- Able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Retains confidential information and demonstrates tact and diplomacy
- Seeks to understand the 'bigger picture' of working at Avena and collaborates with all stakeholders to create operational and financial efficiencies
- KPI 1 - Producing month end reports within 3 working days
- KPI 2 - Debtor days to be below 45 days
- KPI 3 - Source documents to be uploaded and approved on Accounting software within 24hrs of availability
- AAT Level 3
- Previous management or supervisory role
- Experience in an accounting/finance role for 3 years
- Previous experience with credit control
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Experience with Xero
