What's the role?
Elliptic is looking for an energetic and ambitious finance professional to help with the day-to-day of the finance function for this high-growth SaaS business. This person will work closely with all the finance team members to help establish and look after various accounting and financial control processes, with specific ownership over external audit, tax, and corporate governance. This person will also play a central role in a function that drives the growth of the business by continually improving the speed and integrity of management information for teams throughout the business.
This offers a rapid learning curve with increasing understanding and ownership of all finance processes under the guidance of and reporting to the Finance Manager and the opportunity to use the knowledge obtained from your audit/assurance training operationally. Key Responsibilities
What you'll do?
This person will enjoy the satisfaction of closing month-end to schedule and owning all elements of financial reporting and related regulatory compliance (tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting). Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Regulatory
- Own the external audit processes end to end i.e. from planning through to the signing of the Group Consolidated Financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and other relevant financial regulations.
- Support and work with local accounting, tax, valuation, and corporate services providers in the UK, US, Singapore, and Japan.
- Own the tax filings and related regulatory reporting for both direct and indirect taxes.
Operational
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports, and board/investor presentations.
- Monitor revenue recognition in accordance with UK GAAP for SaaS-based subscriptions.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be involved in other operational tasks such as:
- Management of the various finance inboxes & helping with queries across different teams.
- Daily monitoring of bank accounts, reconciling incomings and outgoings in Xero.
- Overseeing the offshore outsourced accounts payable partner.
- Work closely with the finance assistant/assistant management accountant to ensure timely sales invoicing, collections, and credit control.
Strategic
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and financial system improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business decision-making.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Requirements
As well as being energetic, trustworthy, and dependable with exceptional attention to detail, the ideal candidate will always look to improve on accepted norms and should possess the following traits:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification fully completed (no exceptions made).
- Technical accounting experience i.e. through completion of a training contract with a professional services firm in assurance/audit.
- Experience with transfer pricing, indirect taxes (VAT and GST), R&D claims, and corporate tax.
- Strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition principles and subscription-based business models.
- Exposure to closing a month-end including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, analyzing and commenting on the management accounts.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Sheets/Docs/Slides, etc.) and Excel.
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Points (advantageous but not essential) for:
- 2 years of post-qualification experience in an accounting role out of professional services/audit.
- Tech sector, Crypto/Blockchain, and/or SaaS industry experience.
