Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Central Engineering, Transport System Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering teams and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you'll deliver new systems and solutions. There's more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we're ready for the 21st century and beyond.

Day-to-day, your focus will be on delivering designs, drawings, information, calculations and enhancements that keep vital, innovative and big-budget projects moving. You'll make sure assets are safe, working and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.

As part of the Fire Engineering team, you would either be:

  • Responsible for delivering Fire Engineering services throughout the TfL Estate, defining scope, controlling business risk and compliance with associated standards where in-depth working knowledge is required of Building Regulations Part B, BS 9999, BS 9992 and BS 7974. Having knowledge & experience on TfL Fire Standards would also be very advantageous.
  • As a systems-based fire engineer, you would be embedded within projects and you would be responsible for scoping, site monitoring and delivery of fire safety systems throughout the network. This would involve site inspections, preparation of technical reports, assurance and handover of active and passive fire safety systems during the process. You will have to engage with relevant stakeholders within TfL, LFB and external contractors. Relevant knowledge of British Standards and TfL Standards would be desirable for this role. You will work throughout a project's life cycle, including feasibility and delivery of operating & maintenance information.

The more teams you've been part of, the better. But it's important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That's because, wherever you join us, you'll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise. So come and bring on tomorrow, as an Engineer at TfL.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We want to represent the city we serve, which will help us become a more innovative and efficient organisation. Our goal is to make our recruitment as inclusive as possible. We are a disability confident employer who guarantee an interview to any disabled candidate who meets all of the essential criteria. We also use anonymising software that removes identifying information from CVs and cover letters to make the process fair.
