The Job:
Join the team at a well-established trout farming business in Scotland as a Fish Husbandry Technician, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the health, welfare, and growth of our fish stock. This hands-on position involves working closely with farm managers to uphold exceptional operational and environmental standards. Your responsibilities will include monitoring fish health and behaviour, overseeing feeding regimes, managing water quality, and maintaining farm infrastructure. Additionally, you'll contribute to essential farm operations such as stock grading, vaccination, and harvesting, all while strictly adhering to biosecurity and welfare protocols. Operating boats and machinery for daily tasks and maintaining detailed records to support regulatory compliance will also be key aspects of your role.
As a key member of our team, you'll be integral to the success of our farm, ensuring that our fish are fed appropriately and that water quality is consistently maintained at optimal levels. Your proactive approach to identifying and reporting health issues, coupled with your ability to adjust feeding programmes based on environmental factors, will be critical in achieving our farm's goals. Moreover, your dedication to maintaining farm infrastructure and adhering to health, safety, and environmental procedures will help uphold our high operational standards. The Candidate:
- Experience in fish farming, aquaculture, or livestock husbandry (preferred but not essential)
- An understanding of fish health, feeding practices, and water quality management
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills
- A team player with excellent communication skills
- Boat handling experience or marine certification
- Knowledge of biosecurity and environmental regulations
- First Aid & Health & Safety training.
