The Role:

The FP&A team is responsible for managing the budget & forecasting process and creating performance targets to drive the Bank to its strategic goals. The team produces insightful management reports and financial analysis to aid performance management, concentrate executive attention and to inform decision making. This requires a combination of report preparation, financial analysis & insight, financial modelling and forecasting & budgeting. This team will also look to support the Bank's M&A activity.

Working for a small bank within the FP&A team offers its members unparalleled and direct access to senior levels, creating opportunities to influence the Executives and build Bank wide relationships.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to continue to develop their technical knowledge, professional competence and gain practical experience of the business drivers across all of the Bank's products and services. This is a mid-level role where you will work in conjunction with other more senior members of staff and be expected to set an example for junior members.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Bank's management reporting cycle; monthly, quarterly and annually. Ensure MI packs are accurate, insightful and the key messages are delivered and communicated to support effective decision making
  • Support and enhance reporting and analytic capabilities to assist the delivery of Business insight which delivers valuable tangible outputs
  • Assist management in creating an environment where costs are scrutinised, senior executives are held to account for expenditure and where FP&A look to drive tangible savings
  • Analysis of the Banks' competitors and the effective communication of key conclusions to seniors
  • Assist Financial Control during the monthly reporting cycle to ensure a timely close and provide a strong level of challenge to safeguard robustness of the ledger
  • Understand the business drivers and support the production, maintenance and review of budget and forecast models across the Group, including costs across all departments
  • Support wider finance initiatives, ad hoc projects and operational improvements as required by wider finance team and support the delivery of strategic change
  • Keep up to date with regulatory changes, accounting changes and Bank procedures.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Final stages of qualification or Qualified Accountant (1-2 years PQE)from a recognised body (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc) or qualified by experience
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Experience within FP&A, Business Partnering or Business Intelligence, preferably within the Financial Services
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment and manage a varied workload
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel
