Reuters is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and grow its conferences and events business, Reuters Events. Reuters Events, part of Reuters Professional, creates impactful, high-profile events that bring together industry leaders, influencers, and experts from across the globe to share knowledge, ignite innovation, and facilitate meaningful connections.
As General Manager of Reuters Events, you'll take a strategic leadership position that will allow you to drive business growth, develop our product strategy and manage the operations of the events business. You will be responsible for setting the strategic and product vision for Reuters Events, overseeing both operational KPIs and the P&L, and will work collaboratively across departments within Reuters Professional. As our General Manager, you'll lead our established Delegate Sales, Production, Marketing and Event Ops teams and, as a key senior leader within Reuters Professional, will work closely with the wider commercial (i.e. digital and speciality) teams within Reuters.
About the Role
As General Manager at Reuters Events, you will:
- Formulate and implement comprehensive business strategies to meet revenue and growth targets in line with Reuters Professional overall Reuters strategy.
- Lead the Reuters Events product vision and roadmap, working effectively with internal and external stakeholders as well as clients. You'll identify and evaluate new market opportunities for growth, monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments and will partner with colleagues across Reuters Professional's leadership team to develop and execute strategies.
- Build customer focused, high-performing teams through direct and dotted line reporting lines including across sales, marketing, product, and operations.
- Ensure operational excellence across commercial functions supporting Reuters Events, managing the P&L and establishing and monitoring KPIs to ensure the business is meeting its objectives.
- Take an active role in leading Reuters Events' product offering. You'll have a deep understanding of both the needs and challenges of delegates and sponsors, will lead market research efforts to identify unmet content needs and emerging product opportunities and will analyse portfolio performance and gather customer feedback to inform future development efforts.
- Take a hands-on role in leading the organisation. You'll inspire the Reuters Events teams to compete to win in the market, will support teams to challenge thinking and resourcefully solve problems.
- Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the team whilst promoting a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
About You
You're a fit for the role of General Manager at Reuters Events if you have:
- Demonstrable experience in a commercially led leadership role, preferably within the events / conferencing industry.
- Demonstrated success in driving significant revenue growth and scaling B2B global conference businesses, ideally in a global setting.
- Deep understanding of the events business and market dynamics.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a proven track record of successful P&L management.
- Great people leadership skills, fostering a high performance, innovative, inclusive culture and developing talent at all levels.
- The ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to manage teams in a matrixed organisation.
- An analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities. We're looking for an exceptional strategist with great business acumen, that can clearly communicate to and manage a range of key stakeholders.
