General Practitioner 7-8 sessions per week job share available
Garforth Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for a GP to join our well-established team of 5 Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, ANP and support Practice Matron. We are looking for 7-8 sessions per week but would gladly support a job share opportunity.
Main duties of the jobTo work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
About usWe currently have a population of 14,500 patients within the bustling town of Garforth which includes our sister branch based in the quaint village of Barwick-in-Elmet. The practice operates a model of 5 Partners working with 6 Salaried GPs, ANP and a Practice Matron who is predominantly responsible for visiting our housebound/elderly patients. We are a training practice delivering this to rotational students along with FYS/ST roles and we are also very lucky to have 2 established GPMplus mentors. We have a Practice Manager who looks after the finance side of the business and an Assistant Practice Manager who runs the day to day operation. We have a Facilities/Project Manager along with a Dispensary Manager and Reception Manager with a support team helping. We have a Lead Nurse and a team of HCAs/Phlebotomists and we are supported with ARRS staff from the LS25/26 PCN. We encourage staff development and training and have 3 mental health first aiders. We support staff wellbeing through our VIV up employee programme. We received a rating of Good in our last CQC inspection.

Primary Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
- The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload.
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
- Processing of administration in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate clinical records.
- Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
- Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:
- Participate in practice audits as requested.
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
- Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events.
- Be involved in supervision of trainees if required.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
- Experience of continued professional development.
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit.
- General understanding of the GMS contract.
- Qualified GP.
- MRCGP.
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
