Avian Ecology Ltd is a specialist ecological consultancy, delivering expert advice and services across a wide range of projects, from renewable energy developments to infrastructure and conservation initiatives. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a GIS Manager to lead our GIS function, supporting our team of ecologists through data management, spatial analysis, and high-quality mapping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management - Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of spatial and ecological datasets.
- Data Interrogation & Analysis - Conduct spatial analysis, interpret survey data, and generate insights to support ecological assessments.
- GIS & Mapping - Create high-quality figures, maps, and plans using MapInfo, QGIS, and CAD.
- Technical Support - Manage GIS-related software, troubleshoot database issues, and optimize workflows.
- Team Collaboration - Work closely with ecologists to integrate GIS outputs into reports and deliverables.
- Process Improvement - Develop and implement best practices for data visualization, mapping, and spatial analysis.
About You:
- Strong GIS expertise, with experience in MapInfo, QGIS, and CAD.
- Proven background in data management, spatial analysis, and database interrogation.
- Understanding of environmental and ecological datasets and their applications.
- Previous experience in the ecology or environmental sector is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
