Job overviewThe GOLD clinical fellow will work in delivering comprehensive assessments and interventions for older people undergoing cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other non-surgical treatment modalities). This is a 1 year post suitable for ST3-ST7 level in General or Geriatric Medicine or Oncology. Part-time or job share applications are welcomed. There will be a number of opportunities to participate in audit, QUIP, service development, teaching and/or research depending on the fellow's personal interests and development goals.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work for the Geriatric-Oncology Liaison Development Team (GOLD team) within the Department of Ageing and Health. GOLD is an innovative and award-winning service delivering Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and optimisation (CGA) to older people undergoing cancer treatment. The service operates at Guys site. GOLD clinical fellows will be involved in quality improvement, service development and/or research work.
Job responsibilitiesThe applicant may have a background in geriatric medicine, acute/general medicine or oncology.
Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
Evidence of personal interest in Geriatric Oncology and/or Geriatric Medicine and/or Oncology.
Experience in clinical guidance development.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training- Full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practise
- ST3-ST7 level in General or Geriatric Medicine or Oncology
- Full MRCP
- BSc, MSc
- Comprehensive clinical experience in General and Geriatrics Medicine and/or Oncology
- Clinical experience in providing Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)
- Clinical experience with older people with cancer
- Clinical experience in outpatient clinics
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Up to date clinical knowledge appropriate to current stage of training
- Time management and organisation skills
- Ability to work independently with guidance/supervision
- Knowledge of the principles of CGA
- Evidence of initiative and leadership skills
- Familiarity with some relevant literature related to the post
- Experience of undergraduate teaching and post graduate training
- Advanced teaching experience (e.g. organising training days, involvement in regional or national teaching)
- Ability to carry out audit and/or quality improvement work
- Ability to conduct & evaluate own projects successfully
- Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research
- Evidence of delivering change through audit loops and/or quality improvement projects
- Evidence of original research
- Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council
- Evidence of personal interest in Geriatric Oncology and/or Geriatric Medicine and/or Oncology
