We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Compliance Director. The role will be responsible for all aspects of Compliance, including all health and safety, audit requirements and all compliance regulations for Onnec on a global scale. It is a is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and ensuring Onnec's adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
What you'll be doing as our Global Compliance Director:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global compliance strategy.
- Monitor and ensure Onnec's compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, globally.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in compliance requirements and adjust company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and establish mitigation plans.
- Lead the development and execution of Onnec's health and safety program.
- Establish and promote a safety culture throughout Onnec.
- Identify potential health and safety hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-miss events and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that safety protocols and procedures comply with local and international standards.
- Prepare and submit necessary compliance reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Manage the documentation and record-keeping for compliance and safety-related activities.
- Develop and deliver compliance and safety training programs for employees.
- Promote awareness and knowledge of health and safety best practices throughout Onnec.
- Conduct internal audits to evaluate compliance and health and safety performance.
- Own and manage all external audits to maintain Onnec accreditations engaging with relevant stakeholders as required.
- Work closely with the sales and operations teams to maintain an accurate accreditations list and liaise with HR on any training requirements.
- Create and update policies, procedures, and guidelines related to compliance, health, and safety.
- Ensure that policies align with best practices and legal requirements in each country.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and regulatory agencies to address compliance and safety concerns.
- Work closely with the sales and operations teams on compliance and health and safety related data for pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ) and requests for proposals (RFPs).
Specific areas for immediate attention:
- Assist the Global Head of Operations to rationalise the local compliance processes in each country / region.
- Help implement a matrix organisation working closely with the various heads of global functions.
- Develop a strategy to maintain the relevant ISO accreditations for the UK business, specific attention being paid to ISO27001.
- Obtain ISO27001 for the Irish business during 2025.
- Obtain ISO9001 and ISO140001 for the Nordics region.
- Integrate and evolve the compliance team into a new Onnec global structure.
- Develop and implement a carbon zero strategy for the global business.
What we're looking for in our Global Compliance Director:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, occupational health and safety, environmental science).
- Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, or Master's in a related field) is a plus.
- Professional certifications in compliance and health and safety (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Certified Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
- Progressive experience in compliance and health and safety management with global exposure.
- Experience in a global or multinational organisation is essential.
- Strong leadership experience in managing a team.
- In-depth knowledge of global compliance regulations, health and safety standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and influence organisational culture and behaviour related to compliance and safety.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Project management skills for implementing compliance and safety initiatives.
