Grounds Maintenance Specialist

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow Council is seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our Environment and Enterprise team. This role requires a collaborative and flexible approach to ensure our service standards are consistently met. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, efficient, and effective grounds maintenance service, adhering to all instructions and agreed procedures.

Responsibilities include working with the Parks and Open Spaces team and various stakeholders to deliver a high-quality service. Tasks involve conducting pitch inspections and making recommendations to management regarding suitability for use, ensuring all daily work schedules are completed, and fully utilising mobile working technology to record completed work and report issues. Additionally, the role involves promoting and maintaining effective relationships with customers, customer representatives, Council officers, and Members to facilitate effective service delivery and development.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Full working knowledge of fine turf and Grounds Maintenance operations.
• Significant experience of using grounds maintenance machinery, such as mowers, aeration equipment and line marking equipment.
• Experience of working in a customer orientated service industry.
• Inclusive team worker who can foster partnerships, work collaboratively across teams to achieve desired performance and outcomes.
• Able to work outside in all reasonable weather conditions.
• Able to work flexibly in response to the service needs of a 24/7 business, including weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays.
• Physical ability to undertake heavy manual work.
• Able to deal effectively with members of the public.
• Able to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment.
