ROLE SUMMARY:Falcons School is a leading independent day school for boys and girls from 2-11. The School is located in Putney Park and enjoys outstanding facilities, spread across four Edwardian houses, in an enhanced conservation area. Falcons School are looking for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about leading Music throughout the whole school. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and experienced team-player, with the vision to shape the teaching of Music within the school. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage children both to develop an interest in music and love of performing. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about inspiring pupils and leading this key part of the school.
The post involves teaching Music throughout the school, working closely with and reporting to the Head of Performing Arts. There will be an expectation to deliver a broad offering outside of the classroom including extra-curricular clubs such as music ensembles, choir and supporting Music Scholars.
This is a part time role (0.4 FTE).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Work with the Headmistress, Deputy Head and Head of Performing Arts regarding the strategic development of music and the performing arts as well as the day to day operations.
- Develop an exciting and engaging curriculum that provides all pupils with the opportunity to achieve their potential and develop a love of music.
- Encourage and inspire pupils in their pursuit of music, both in and out of the classroom.
- Encourage children to develop their creativity, confidence, and communication skills through music.
- In conjunction with the Head of Performing Arts, prepare the pupils to perform in school plays, performances, and other events.
- Develop effective assessment, recording and reporting systems, to ensure that all pupils within the department meet agreed targets, both individually and across the department.
- Ensure that the department is well resourced.
- Maintain own knowledge of national strategy and developments in the teaching of music.
- Plan and lead relevant trips and events.
- Prepare pupils for applications for senior school music scholarships.
- Responsible for overseeing the provision of extra-curricular/enrichment.
- A good standard of education at degree level or above.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Excellent subject knowledge.
- Experience of teaching a balanced and academically ambitious lessons.
- Proven track record of outstanding teaching of Music at KS2 and/or KS3.
- Expert knowledge of music theory, composition, and performance.
- Experience leading ensembles, choirs, and productions.
