The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead the operations of a 500MW solar portfolio across the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will oversee a high-performing team of four (Junior Operations Manager, Operations Manager, and Portfolio Manager) to optimise assets, negotiate contracts, and drive P&L results. This strategic leadership role demands ownership, financial expertise, and the ability to steer a dynamic, growth-oriented division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the end-to-end operations of a 500MW solar portfolio, ensuring assets are grid-connected and performing optimally.
- Lead portfolio optimisation by identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth.
- Negotiate high-stakes contracts and oversee commercial agreements to maximise earnings.
- Monitor and report on asset P&L results, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Implement corporate planning and processes to enhance cash flow and financial performance.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across Europe in a project-based approach.
- Champion digitalisation initiatives and uphold IT security standards.
About You
- Education: Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. CFA qualification is an advantage.
- Experience: Proven senior leadership experience in renewable energy, operations, or a business sector with a focus on financial optimisation. Candidates with either a financial background and technical understanding or an engineering background with financial acumen are welcome.
- Skills:
- Exceptional financial and analytical skills with expertise in P&L management and contract negotiation.
- Strong leadership with a track record of taking ownership and exceeding expectations in dynamic environments.
- Adept at managing project-based operations with a focus on visibility and control.
- Fluency in English (mandatory); German at B1 level or higher is highly desirable for collaboration with Hamburg-based colleagues.
