Post Title: Head of Procurement
Location: Midlands (3 Days a week onsite)
Responsible For: Management of a team of 6, with potential for growth depending on departmental changes.
Salary Range: £55k to £70k
Job Purpose:
The role is responsible for leading and managing procurement activities within specific departments, ensuring efficient service delivery aligned with strategic goals. The postholder will oversee procurement strategies, provide expert advice to senior stakeholders, and lead a team dedicated to achieving high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with department and organizational goals.
- Establish operational structures to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and governance frameworks.
Category & Supply Chain Management:
- Lead the development of category management and procurement strategies.
- Manage supply chain resilience and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide reports and deliver continuous improvement initiatives aligned with broader organizational goals.
Procurement Process Delivery:
- Lead and manage complex procurement projects to optimize savings, value for money, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant procurement regulations and standards.
- Advise stakeholders on crafting procurement specifications and processes.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to promote effective and collaborative procurement practices.
- Provide transparency on procurement plans and deliver insights for better decision-making.
- Represent the organization in external procurement forums and steering groups.
Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team, setting clear performance expectations and KPIs.
- Ensure the team is aligned and achieving objectives.
Governance & Compliance:
- Develop and implement procurement policies that ensure compliance, governance, and value for money.
- Ensure financial and legal risks are mitigated, particularly in the context of funding and compliance.
Contract Negotiation:
- Lead high-level contract negotiations, ensuring optimal terms while managing financial and legal risks.
