Job Description

The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for managing the HR Service Team in ensuring a timely and accurate HR service across the full employee lifecycle. The role entails direct management responsibility for the team, and on occasion, will be expected to deputise for the HR Systems and Services Manager.

This is a highly visible and responsible role delivering a comprehensive service that meets the needs of the business whilst also coordinating the priorities and the workload of the team and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.

Applicants will need to have previous HR Team Leader experience. With our aim to be a flexible employer, this role offers hybrid office and home working, you will be based within a commutable distance of our Birmingham Office.

What you will be doing

  1. Ensuring that processes are completed in a timely manner to meet key deadlines and business requirements across the full employee lifecycle
  2. Providing general HR administrative support where required
  3. Developing the teams' skills and knowledge
  4. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders e.g. Pensions Team, Finance Team, and Management
  5. Ensuring standard operating procedures and associated documentation is kept up to date and are fit for purpose
  6. Regularly cleansing and auditing employee data ensuring that the HR system (iTrent) is kept up to date
  7. Act as a subject matter expert on HR operational matters, where required
  8. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to regularly check that processes are working as they should be
  9. Identifying and suggesting process improvements and following these through to completion
  10. Undertake project work, as directed by the HR Systems and Services Manager
  11. Deputise for the HR Systems and Services Manager as and when required
  12. Continuous review of processes to suggest and implement best practice to improve accuracy, efficiency and customer service
  13. Liaison with outsourced payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely processing

What we will need from you

  1. Oral communication - Speaks clearly, fluently and confidently to both individuals and groups
  2. Written communication - Writes in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, style and language for the reader
  3. HR experience, and a good understanding of HR policy and procedures
  4. Good attention to detail and accuracy
  5. Strong customer service focus
  6. Well organised, with ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines
  7. Ability to work well in a team and to work on own initiative
  8. Strong understanding and respect for confidentiality
  9. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications to an intermediate level
  10. Experience supporting and coaching others
  11. Experience working closely with a payroll team
  12. Use and understanding of HR systems
