Sony UK Technology Centre Limited is the only manufacturing centre for Sony in Europe, and have over 500 highly skilled team players who help create some of the most advanced technology on the global market. The heart of today's operation at Pencoed is centered on the manufacture of high technology Broadcast and Professional Cameras and Systems including the latest industry leading 4K technology. Alongside this, we provide contract manufacturing solutions for multiple non-Sony branded businesses. This collaborative approach to contract manufacturing has produced many commercial successes over the years, including the best-selling British computer of all time, the Raspberry Pi. Additionally, we are the home of a Sony customer service and solutions centre, a business incubation centre and much more.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary manufacturing facility. This role requires focusing on production concepts, process quality improvements, manufacturing cost control and the elimination of waste and delivery of industry 4.0 solutions. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the engineering and operations teams which will enable you to work in a dynamic environment, with cutting edge technologies. Using your imagination, innovation and creativity skills will support in furthering your technical and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implementation of new manufacturing facilities
  2. Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic business objectives
  3. Start to end production process flow creation
  4. Match manning to the ideal production process 'run rate'
  5. Identification and implementation of IIOT technology
  6. Process safety risk assessment management following training
  7. Leading quality improvement investigations and developing improvement actions
  8. Leading new equipment delivery and sign off
  9. A dedicated team player with strong communication skills
  10. Relevant engineering Degree/ HNC / or time-served technician with experience
  11. Positive attitude towards working towards and meeting deadlines
  12. Willingness to travel to support projects, both domestic UK and overseas
  13. Self-motivated and strong sense of responsibility
  14. Productivity collection and analysis
  15. Problem solving techniques
  16. Quality improvement project work
  17. Demonstrate an understanding of Lean, Kaizen, SPC, 5S and other philosophies highly beneficial
  18. Ability to seek out opportunities for improvement within the facility, utilising necessary tools where appropriate (DMAIC, FMEA, DFM, Potential Problem Analysis)
