Job description

The primary purpose of the Lead Integrity Engineer is to:

  1. Assure the condition of company assets by effective planning and implementation of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programme, in compliance with local country legislation and company procedures.
  2. Ensure effective management, and integrity, of data generated from the execution of inspection programmes, from the generation of inspection reports through to data processing and storage within company Information Data Management Systems (IDMS), and wider company systems.
  3. Define and manage the multi-year asset budget, identifying opportunities to optimise and reduce spend on an ongoing basis by introducing innovative technologies e.g. Non Invasive Inspection (NII), challenge to company and industry norms, and contract management.

Assure condition of company assets:

  1. Provide leadership to the asset team and site execution contractors, ensuring compliance with statutory regulation, company policies, standards, and procedures.
  2. Ensure compliance, and change if required, to Performance Standards and proscribed assurance tasks, ultimately assuring the condition of structural and 'static' equipment to prevent failure and Loss of Containment (LOC).
  3. Ensure asset integrity work is effectively planned via the asset Integrated Activity Planning (IAP), process and long range / 8Q planning process adhered to.
  4. Data / data systems management:
  5. Ensuring that all inspection data is gathered and processed through company systems as per procedure and in line with local legislative requirements.
  6. Development and continuous update of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programme, and accountable for the timely completion and approval of Integrity Reviews (IR).
  7. Ensure the team carry out timely analysis of inspection results and, where required, specify appropriate prioritisation and timelines of remedial actions, working with relevant parties to complete repairs as agreed and to plan.
  8. Capture all asset engineering modifications (Greenfield/Brownfield/decommission), within the inspection programme e.g. baseline inspections, removal of inspection routines, IDMS update etc. (application / adherence to MOC process).

Budget and contract management:

  1. Define, manage, and control the asset integrity budget for their asset. Ensure integrity programmes are included in annual and long-range plan and are fully supported by appropriate budget and resource requirements.
  2. Manage budgets through the year and provide Latest View (LV), forecasts as required by the business.
  3. Identify opportunities to rationalise and reduce cost and advise if there is risk of overspend.

Technical contract owner for deployment of inspection services and fabric maintenance, and monitoring of ongoing contractor performance (and feedback to contract organisations).


Key Technical Skills:

  1. Conversant with UK regulatory environment, standards and industry best practice.
  2. Experienced and full understanding of Risk Based Inspection programmes, models / software systems, and degradation mechanisms.
  3. Experienced and full understanding with maintenance management systems e.g. SAP and their interaction with RBI systems.
  4. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and external regulatory bodies.

Additional Skills/Training which would be ideal are:

  1. Corrosion and degradation mechanisms
  2. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods

Good knowledge of the following legislation needed:

  1. Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
  2. Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH)
  3. Safety Case Regulations (SCR)
  4. Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
  5. Prevention of Fire and Explosion, and Emergency Response (PFEER), regulations
  6. Design and Construction Regulations (DCR)
  7. European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

Job requirements

Education:
Degree Level in relevant area
Incorporated / Chartered Engineer Status


Work Experience:

  1. The job holder must possess strong operational knowledge of the upstream or other high hazard industry.
  2. Significant experience in engineering and operations.
  3. Significant experience within asset integrity; RBI programmes, inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Fitness for Service assessment, Non-Invasive Inspection (NII) programmes.

Certification:
Incumbent should ideally have the following completed:

  1. ASME Level 1 and 2 Plant Inspector
  2. API 579 Fitness For Service
  3. API 510 /570 Piping and Vessel Inspector
  4. G-103 Non Invasive Inspection Recommended Practice
