In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of online trading by designing and implementing a streamlined, customer and colleague focussed platform that will redefine how our customers invest.

What you'll do

  • Join the lab engineering leadership team, shape the team's direction as we maintain the current platform and build a large ground-breaking greenfield development.
  • Collaborate with the head of engineering, product owners, architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute on the lab's roadmap, scope, and deliverables.
  • Mentor and coach the software engineers, developing their skills and career growth.
  • Drive the culture of delivering highly resilient, secure and quality software.
  • Drive adoption of best engineering practices.

About us

Like the modern Britain we serve, we're evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We're growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too

What you'll need:

You'll be a full-stack developer with proven experience of

  • Leadership, management, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower the software engineering team.
  • Delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.
  • Being hands-on with a range of programming languages to support our greenfield digital build e.g. JavaScript, TypeScript, ReactJS, Java and related API frameworks and Kafka.
  • Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP.
  • Automation and CI/CD across the SDLC using Harness.
  • Working with large-scale applications where high performance and low latency is a must.
  • Using distributed systems, asynchronous programming techniques and event-driven architectures.
  • Cloud native solutions and integration with SaaS solutions via APIs.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • C#, .NET and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Delivering software solutions in financial services (particularly trading/investments or wealth).
  • Delivering large scale data migrations (500k+ customers).
  • Certifications in any of the above technologies.

About working for us:

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.

And it's why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups.

We're disability confident. So, if you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%.
  • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance.
  • Share schemes including free shares.
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top.
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.

Want to do amazing work, that's interesting and makes a difference to millions of people? Join our journey.
