Learning & Development Specialist - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract

Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Arup University is the firm's centre of excellence and is responsible for our communities of experts and enthusiasts that enables members to develop our skills and capability to better meet the needs of our clients and drive continuous innovation across the firm. We are dedicated to expanding our knowledge, strengthening our collective capabilities, and accelerating our progress towards a sustainable future.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development specialist to join a passionate team that is striving to shape Arup's Learning culture and make a lasting impact on organisational development. Working with diverse audiences globally, you will support the design, development and implementation of impactful Learning solutions that empower our members to develop new skills and thrive in their roles. This role will primarily focus on supporting the growth of Arup's members' digital skills, as well as supporting other areas of Learning. Digital represents one of the biggest opportunities for our industry that Arup has ever seen, and it will transform the way we work in the built environment. Digital is also an important enabler to achieving our Sustainable Development goals, therefore, a knowledge or passion for topics such as Data, AI, BIM, Software Development or User Research and Design, for example, would be a significant asset.

The successful candidate will also have a strong foundation in Learning and Development practices, with experience in designing and delivering learning across a range of methods. You will have a solid understanding of adult Learning principles and be comfortable working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to design, organise and track Learning solutions, and collaborate with diverse, global teams. Additionally, the candidate will have a natural curiosity for emerging Learning technologies and trends, and a passion for continuous improvement. As a life-long learner, you are always seeking opportunities to expand your knowledge and bring fresh ideas to the table, ensuring that our programmes remain innovative and effective.

This role is a 1-year maternity cover and will report directly into the Digital Learning Account Manager.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Can demonstrate the ability to work across all aspects of the learning cycle (e.g. needs analysis, design & development, delivery, assessment & evaluation)
  • Have advanced stakeholder management, relationship building, and influencing skills, including experience working with geographically dispersed stakeholders
  • Can demonstrate project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pay close attention to detail, and work collaboratively with others
  • Have experience utilising different learning methodologies and technologies - and an ability to select the most appropriate solution
  • Have the ability to work with external partners, including academic institutions, consultants, and facilitators. A proactive, detail-oriented mindset that thrives in managing multiple tasks and coordinating events globally.
  • Have a keen interest in developing digital, data and AI skills amongst a workforce
  • Have a recognised qualification in Adult Education / Workplace Training

The role is based in either London, Madrid, Hong Kong, Melbourne or New York three days a week, and two days working from home.
