Job Description

Contract role inside IR35
Duration: 6 months + possible extension
Location: Cambridge (hybrid twice per week on-site)
Rate: £250 per day

JD:

In your role as'systems Administrator, you will become a valued member of a dynamic and responsive team, working to design, implement and maintain enterprise grade IT systems (services, server, storage and network) along with our internal compute clusters, all of which underpin the services used by Engineering, Data Scientists and other functions within Featurespace.

This role requires living within commutable distance to our Cambridge office. This is a Full time position with flexible working hours, and requires some on-call and occasional out-of hours working.

Day to Day 2nd Line

  • Ensuring all systems are monitored and alerts are handled appropriately
  • Maintaining server, storage, network, and security infrastructure
  • Automation of platform support, processes, standards and tools
  • Write and maintain code for the creation of scalable/resilient systems/infrastructure/platform services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues production environments

Day to Day 3rd Line

  • Projects - designing, implementing, and maintain server, storage, network, and security infrastructure
  • Developing, implement, and test data backup and recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Writing clear, concise documentation and operational standards including service and infrastructure diagrams
  • Ensure global standards and best practices are adhered for systems

About you

Must haves:

  • Experience running and maintaining on-premise data centres
  • Strong experience with Linux (Ubuntu/Centos)
  • Experience enterprise storage including ISCSI and SAN technology
  • Prior experience using automation tools (Ansible, Foreman etc)
  • Knowledge of IP Networking, DNS, and Firewalling
  • Experience with Python, Shell Scripts and command-line tools
  • Knowledge of containerisation and related orchestration technologies
  • Demonstrable experience of remediation projects, ideally within a PCI-DSS certified environment.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills and natural willingness to collaborate across teams and organisations.
  • Naturally able & productive with ITSM tools such as Jira, ServiceNow etc.

Great to haves:

  • Good knowledge of the various services and capabilities of cloud computing platforms; Ideally AWS
  • Hyper-V, Microsoft AD, AAD & VMWare experience
  • Experience maintaining OpenStack
  • Experience maintaining build system, source code management, TeamCity and GitLab services
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science preferred) or equivalent experience
