Linux Networking Systems Administrator - Contract Opportunity

The main requirements are:

• Advanced Linux or Unix system administration
• Experience with AWS services, eg: EC2, CloudWatch, Lambda, IAM
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS protocols
• MONITORING OR OBSERVABILITY
• Cisco Certifications CCIE - CCNP

Role Overview:

• Provide support to clients by resolving infrastructure issues that affect their ability to monitor system performance. Responsibilities include:
  • System Monitoring: Oversee both on-premise and cloud systems, addressing alerts and anomalies. Collaborate with teams and vendors to resolve issues and proactively maintain systems to prevent future problems.
  • Virtualization Management: Investigate and maintain virtualization infrastructure within our VMware cluster and AWS environment.
  • Network Configuration: Design and implement configurations for networking equipment, including routing, VLANs, and IP Addressing. Maintain comprehensive network documentation.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Address technical and system engineering issues using existing SOPs. Develop and improve SOPs and documentation to expedite issue resolution.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Analyze system architecture and data flows to identify root causes of problems. Interpret code, analyze logs, and detect anomalies or patterns affecting performance, reliability, or availability.
  • Project Delivery: Complete projects on schedule using appropriate technologies and industry best practices, even with partially defined scopes.
  • System Recommendations: Investigate and recommend systems and approaches that meet quality, performance, and sustainability standards.
  • Technical Understanding: Possess in-depth knowledge of streaming video systems, networking infrastructure, automation workflows, and related industry services.
  • Design and Deployment: Contribute to design, scoping, prioritization, deployment plans, and system changes.
  • Communication: Evaluate short and long-term trade-offs of decisions and recommend solutions to improve outcomes.
