The Localisation Team at BBC Studios plays a crucial role in adapting content for global audiences, ensuring that shows and media are accurately translated, dubbed, subtitled, and made accessible in multiple languages. They manage the end-to-end localisation process, working with external service providers to meet quality standards and deadlines. The team is responsible for coordinating media deliverables, performing quality checks, and maintaining schedules to ensure smooth and timely delivery of content.
THE ROLEAs part of the Localisation Team, you will assist the sourcing and commissioning of language versions (dubbing, voice-over, subtitling, lectoring) and access services assets (closed captions and audio description) in multiple languages, ensuring the highest quality and standards of localisation are maintained and the assets delivered on time, within budget, catalogued and archived for re-purpose.
You will engage with localisation service providers to ensure both contractual and quality standards are met, and follow up with them on any complaints raised.
You will manage media deliveries across divisions, and will also be required to perform quality checks and simple asset conform tasks where required.
You will be responsible for handling purchase orders, processing invoices, managing related queries, and tracking actual costs, keeping accurate records in financial system and Excel.
Key Tasks:
- Coordination and Delivery of video proxies, audio wav files and scripts to the relevant vendors.
- Monitoring and Upload of deliverables.
- Setting schedules for localisation vendors according to deadlines and coordinate production workflow timelines with the languages houses.
- Searching databases, sourcing & identifying existing assets.
- Performing quality checks and simple conform tasks on localised assets using in-house tools.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, keeping them up to date about language delivery schedule according to client's needs and helping them locate existing assets.
- Regularly updating schedules of language dubs and subtitling trackers and updating relevant databases for all types of versioning to ensure global visibility to our regional offices and internal customers.
- Support casting activities where required.
Key Criteria:
- Experience working in Localisation Operations. An understanding of the media supply chain specifically relating to language versions and access services, and the end to end creation process.
- An ability to work to tight deadlines to coordinate large volume of material is essential.
- Technical knowledge of all modern media file formats.
- Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts including clients and suppliers.
- Fluent English Speaker with a second language (highly preferable), or an interest in languages and localisation.

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Location: Office Base is London (This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working).
