Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Location of work: St. Joseph's Hospice, Mare Street, London
Fixed term contract for 6 months (maternity locum), full time 10 PAs (4PAs Homerton and 6PAs St Joseph's Hospice)
On-call commitment follows a 1:8 weeknights and weekends.
Salary: £93,666 - £126,281 per annum (pro rata) + 2% on call supplement + London weighting allowance
Main duties of the jobThis is an ideal opportunity for someone who would like to join an established Palliative Care team at St Joseph's Hospice. The post at St Joseph's hospice is primarily based within the community team and also providing cover to the inpatient wards. The main contract will be held by St Joseph's Hospice.

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise is essential and applicants should be on the specialist register for Palliative Medicine or be within 6 months of completion of training.
Person specification QUALIFICATION- Full GMC registration with license to practise
- Diploma, Masters Degree or other higher degree in Palliative Medicine
- Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine or within 6 months of attaining CCT / CESR in palliative medicine
- Evidence of critical thinking and the ability to apply evidence in clinical practice
- Recognition of the importance of on-going CPD
- Experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching
- Evidence of involvement in audit projects and quality improvement projects
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Evidence of experience and interest in development of self as teacher
- Experience of leading or significant contribution to audit groups
- Evidence of good personal organisation, including time management and meeting deadlines
- Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in handling difficult situations
- Evidence of ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, both as a member and as a leader
- Evidence of ability and willingness to work within a multicultural hospice and community
- Evidence of flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively within a team of consultants
- Understanding of current issues facing the NHS and independent hospices
- Willingness to work with the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team
- Appreciation of what makes a good leader, good manager and good team player
- Experience of leading service development at consultant level
- Experience of line management, educational supervision or preparing works schedule for trainees
