WHAT TO EXPECT
The Logistics Strategic Programmes Lead will hold responsibility for acting as the single point of contact between GME Logistics and the vehicle/component strategy & programmes teams during the early product creation phases. This will involve co-ordinating the programme impact assessments ensuring alignment with stakeholders and adjacent departments and managing submissions into the vehicle/unit programme team at each gateway. Initially, projects will be focussed around the Propulsion Programmes, requiring travel to our Wolverhampton site as necessary. As a team with global responsibilities, we support hybrid working however, travel to any JLR site, UK or overseas, may be required.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Engage Programme and GME technology teams to drive efficient logistics solutions during creation of the manufacturing strategy.
- Gather programme data from Supply Chain and Programme teams and lead the Intra-Logistics design process, identifying impact on stores and linefeed, ensuring solutions are developed in a timely manner for the appropriate plant.
- Prepare impact assessments and submissions for programme studies from to as requested by the Industrial Operations Strategy (IOS) and Industrial Operations Programme Delivery (IOPD) team.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Product Engineering teams to influence part complexity levels and fit point locations, incorporating Design for Logistics principles to minimise cost / space impact.
- Optimise warehousing and logistics solutions to drive towards benchmark CPU/HPU performance whilst meeting programme requirements.
- Define/update strategy and costs for OPEX (People, MHE) and CAPEX (Equipment, Infrastructure, Systems) providing business case justifications for spend including automation and technology driven solutions.
- Manage communications with stakeholders, co-ordinating alignment of data and solutions between Supply Chain & Plant Material Flow (PFEP / Volumes / Sequencing).
WHAT YOU NEED
- Experience working within a major project or programme environment, with an understanding of key Intra-Logistics (In-Plant) inputs to a programme.
- Experience creating Material Flow and Layouts using tools such as CAD, simulations and value stream mapping.
- Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes, including risks management.
- Credibility within the programme environment and ability to influence others.
- Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation.
