An exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer based out of our UK Office supporting our Engineering, Design, and Development department.

Your impact:

Geoquip Marine's Engineering, Design and Development department supports the entire drilling fleet with all modifications and upgrades on the back deck to meet project requirements. The Mechanical Design Engineer role shall be an integral part of the day to day as well as long term projects that will ensure safe, and efficient completion of projects. They shall be involved in the development of new equipment, modifications to existing, optimising layouts of equipment, and ensuring all aspects of the fleet maintain a high level of safety.

The job:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve the geotechnical testing equipment spreads with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Utilising 2D and 3D CAD software, with calculations and FEA, to verify ideas are sound and practical.
  • Support HSE initiatives by conducting risk assessments, inspections, and participating in regular safety meetings and audits.
  • Oversee quality control to ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory and industry standards-including potential in-house standards development.
  • Create and maintain schedules and budgets of projects.
  • Travel to domestic and international field locations as needed to oversee installations and support projects on-site.

The person:

  • Proven design engineering experience in offshore geotechnical drilling, marine, or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with 'on-site' work, including fabrication supervision and installation of equipment aboard vessels.
  • Degree or certification in Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar software.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • A self-motivated, innovative thinker with a proven ability to work independently under tight deadlines yet excel within a collaborative team environment.
