We have an exciting opportunity for a Migration Reporting Analyst (Grade 10) to join the Migration Control Centre team, as part of the MHHS Programme on a 24 month fixed-term contract (FTC).
Team Overview:
The Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) Programme is essential for enabling flexibility and supporting the transition to Net Zero. The programme will contribute to a cost-effective electricity system, encouraging flexible energy use and helping consumers reduce their bills. The shift to Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement is the biggest overhaul of electricity systems and processes since privatisation and the introduction of the competitive market in 1998 and sees the introduction of a new industry wide Target Operating Model.
One of the most crucial phases of this programme is the Migration phase which involves the migration of circa 33M MPANs from old arrangements to the new settlement arrangements, via 9 migration sprints. This phase will commence post Go-live and will run for 18 months until all MPANs are migrated.
Job Purpose:
The Reporting Analyst will be part of the Migration Control Centre team and will ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of migration reporting data. The role will analyse the reporting from the Migration Control Centre tooling and ensure the integrity of the data.
You will collect, consolidate and analyse all reporting information coming through to the Migration Control centre, adding value through insight and analysis. A strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a deep understanding of reporting data is a must.
This role requires proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, strong data analysis skills, and the ability to test and verify reports generated by the MPMT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting and aggregating migration-related data from multiple sources (e.g. migration data, sprint data, Industry and Regulatory data, operational data) to enable the MCC to monitor migration process.
- Conducting analysis of the collected data to derive insights and determine reporting requirements for the MCC. This will allow proactive identification of risks or issues requiring mitigation.
- Identifying patterns, trends, anomalies, and potential risks in the migration process.
- Generating reports and dashboards to assess performance and compliance; and where required present findings.
- Disseminating the reports and insights to stakeholders, to allow informed decisions to be made based on data driven insights.
- Regular review and analysis of the reporting to identify improvements or additional reporting requirements for migration and actively addressing the same.
- Use Power BI to create dynamic and interactive dashboards, and reports.
- Perform advanced data analysis and data modelling to derive deeper insights.
- Test and verify reports generated by the MPMT to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Support and manage ETL processes for data collection and aggregation.
- Develop and maintain automated reporting with MPMT Development Team.
- Ensure compliance with data governance principles and regulatory reporting requirements.
Capabilities and competencies:
Critical:
- Proven experience in developing and delivering insightful reports.
- Proficient in documenting reporting requirements, producing detailed reports along with associated processes.
- Excellent reporting/data analysis techniques.
- Capable of creating and providing operational reports.
Developmental / Desirable:
- Knowledge of the GB electricity market arrangements, particularly the MHHS programme.
- Awareness of changes occurring within the GB electricity market and the potential impact that these changes may have on stakeholders.
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Good understanding of business data and reporting models for internal and external stakeholders.
- Can identify impacts of data (or bad data).
- Exposure to a range visualization and reporting techniques to drive data integrity standards.
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Experience in testing and verifying reports and data outputs.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, and Document Stores (NoSQL .
