Salary: Negotiable - typically £38,000 - £45,000 plus £4,581 shift allowance (depending on experience) plus Bonus
Our Client, a global-leading Pharmaceutical company is looking to bring in a Microbiology Shift Manager (MSM) who will lead a team of x5 microbiologists; our client offers a fantastic remuneration package, a chance to work at their state-of-the-art facility (good central location) and career progression.
About the Role:
As a Microbiology Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing laboratory operations, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Recruiting, organising, and managing laboratory personnel
- Ensuring monitoring processes are accurate, up to date, and adhered to
- Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Overseeing sample collection and processing to maintain cleanroom controls
- Reporting any out-of-limit (OOL) or out-of-specification (OOS) results immediately
- Leading and assisting in investigations for deviations and environmental excursions
- Coordinating laboratory activities, including:
- Growth promotion testing
- Environmental monitoring
- Sample reconciliation and investigations
- Identifying isolates up to species level
- Managing and mentoring the team in sterility assurance and best practices
- Ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies
About You:
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Extensive knowledge of GMP in a microbiology laboratory
- Proven leadership experience
- Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams
- Experience in writing SOPs
