Job Description:
As a Network Engineer specializing in GCP, Hub, and Wifi, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing our network and security infrastructure. You will provide expert technical guidance to cross-functional teams, contribute to various projects, and work seamlessly within both cloud-based and on-premises environments.
Your Responsibilities:
- Procure network equipment
- Recommend, design, and implement cutting-edge solutions to enhance network resilience and efficiency
- Configure and maintain network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, and firewalls
- Collaborate with network architects to fine-tune system performance
- Stay up-to-date with the latest firmware releases and schedule necessary updates and upgrades
- Document and report on network operations
- Maintain technical documentation and an inventory of network assets
- Communicate network status to key stakeholders
- Coordinate incident troubleshooting and remediation
- Monitor network performance and swiftly resolve issues
- Enforce network system standards and security policies
- Collaborate closely with project management teams, Carrefour's managed service provider, and service desk engineers
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in English and either Dutch or French
- Strong expertise in networks and network security applications
- A problem-solving mindset with a knack for independent and collaborative work
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
- Strong teamwork and willingness to assist others
- Ability to think creatively and outside the box
Required Security Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of network security practical applications
- Experience with firewalls (Palo Alto Networks and Check Point)
- Proficiency in establishing various VPNs (IPSEC, SSLVPN)
- Familiarity with (reverse) proxies
- Good knowledge of Linux operating systems
- Working knowledge of network debugging tools
- Strong understanding of web application security
Required Network Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of networks and addressing concepts
- Expertise in routing (BGP and OSPF)
- Proficiency in switching (Cisco / Aruba, VLANs, STP, cabling, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of wireless networks (Cisco and Aruba)
- Good understanding of DNS and DHCP
- Familiarity with WAN networks (MPLS)
- Experience in network debugging (packet capture and analysis via Wireshark, etc.)
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, especially in networking and security implementations
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, GDM)
- Knowledge of configuration management automation
