NI Custom/Mid Range Senior Project Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our Team based in London and the South East. The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete delivery of lifts and escalator products, ensuring maximum efficiency, best use of resource and best-demonstrated practice. The project manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities on all allocated projects to ensure the company objectives are accomplished within programme and to the agreed contribution, utilising company approved methods and reporting systems. When required, the Senior Project Manager may also assist sales representatives to win projects. This is a permanent and full-time role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the interface with all key clients and designers during the project from tender stage to project completion.
  • Responsible for the delivery of large projects achieving the agreed objectives on time and within budget in a safe and controlled environment.
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate all technical aspects throughout all phases of the project: sales, pre-tender, pre-construction, construction, commissioning & handover.
  • Ensure projects are progressed throughout all phases of the tender aligned with contractual milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead contact for all stakeholders on each project.
  • Cost Manage the project for booking of the project to completion aligned with cost estimates.
  • Improve the Project Margin, through effective change order management.
  • Manage Project Risk with close engagement of the customer and the commercial team.
  • Maintain an updated Project Work file to be reviewed and presented to the management team on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all site field employees are fully trained and briefed in the site project procedures, with particular reference to CDM requirements regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Create a safe working environment for all stakeholders in all activities and equipment.
  • Manage the site team and ensure permit to work system on site.
  • Ensure regular progress reporting of the design, production, installation and commissioning.
  • Implement agreed processes for the production, control and distribution of design information.
  • Identify site problems and liaise with the Project Team to mitigate the effects of any such issues to the mutual benefit of the project.
  • Review the contract specification for each project and coordinate with order processing and engineering and manage SPN.
  • Manage contract variations and contractual terms and conditions.
  • Control the hours and monitor performance issues.
  • Assist in the valuation of monthly accounts in terms of percentage completion.
  • Provide in-process quality checks.
  • Achieve zero defects in our own work and that of our subcontractors.
  • Attend appropriate meetings, as required.
  • Develop skills and abilities of workforce.
  • All employees are required to work in accordance with established Company Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements.
  • Employees must comply with Company Health & Safety requirements and set a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Employees will be required to contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to Schindler Ltd occupational health and safety management system.

Candidate Requirements:

  • At least 5 years Lift Industry experience, preferably in the New Equipment Installation.
  • Thorough knowledge of design and construction processes.
  • Knowledge of the UK Lift Code and Standards.
  • Knowledge of construction commercial management process.
  • Understanding of Project Related Design Requirements.
  • Management/Supervision, commercial, technical and installation background with ability to translate specification & construction issues into workable solutions.
  • A thorough knowledge and technical expertise with Lifts and Escalators and methods of operation would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in managing field personnel.
  • Good communication skills are necessary at all levels, customer representative, internal customers and all staff on site.
  • Excellent Planning and Leadership skills and vision to identify beneficial solutions.
  • Position requires working flexibility and periodic travelling.
