Under the Trust's Clinical Systems Programme, we are now building upon our existing foundations with an ambitious programme of work to deliver a range of state-of-the-art clinical digital solutions across the Trust. The Trust requires two Clinical System Specialists to work on the Dr Doctor Programme to ensure that it is delivered to meet the current and future needs of the organisation and support effective and efficient patient care and associated business functions.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of CareFlow (modules, functions and features) and other core solutions such as clinical noting, electronic observations, Electronic Document Management and Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration, Order Communications, Clinical Communications and other clinical systems as these are adopted.
  • Information relating to the deployment and use of these systems may be complex and will require the post holder to discuss and explain issues clearly and gain agreement and co-operation from users and stakeholders.
  • Engage with stakeholders and explore their requirements for new functionality and changes to existing functionality as required, in-line with departmental standards.
  • Continually seek enhancements and changes to the digital solutions to improve operation in terms of efficiency and clinical safety.
  • Contribute to Change Requests to system suppliers through the Change Board.
  • Assist with the documentation of Trust developments; ensure changes to systems are fully documented in accordance with agreed departmental standards and that the documentation is accessible and up-to-date.
  • Identify, analyse and report problems with systems and where appropriate propose solutions, including any system or operational workarounds.
  • Where new development work by a supplier is planned, liaise with the supplier and customer to validate progress against the requirement at appropriate stages in the development cycle.

Person specification Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience of working on, managing, configuring or supporting PAS Systems within a large, acute NHS organisation.
  • Experience of communicating complex issues to staff at all levels in a large and complex organisation.
  • Working within a team.
  • Good knowledge of MS software e.g. Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of current best practice relating to health records management, including security and confidentiality.
Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of the application of Digital Services to the NHS working environment.
  • Ability to analyse highly complex processes and evaluate options for improvement.
  • Ability to communicate technical and other specialist issues to non-specialist staff.
  • Clear and effective presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of the business processes and information requirements of NHS Trusts.
  • Aptitude to solve problems using system and process solutions.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
