Paediatric Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

The paediatric dermatology service is a busy, dynamic speciality, caring for approximately 1000 children and families with skin related disorders and problems. We are looking for a nurse to join our friendly team as a secondment to cover a maternity period. The role will cover inpatient and outpatient work and liaison with a wide range of other specialist paediatric teams. Initially the role will focus on helping families with the topical treatment of eczema and prior experience in this area would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills and be committed to enabling the team to provide excellent standards of care. They must be organised and self-motivated, with a passion for dermatology.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work as an important member of the Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust across the community. The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients (in-patient and out-patient) and their family, throughout the care pathway.
The post holder will utilize skills of clinical expertise, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. S/he will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout curative, palliative and terminal phases.
S/he will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.
The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings.

- 1st Degree in nursing or health related subject, willing to undertake/working towards
- Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
- Willingness to work towards Masters level academic study
- Appropriate proven leadership and management experience

- Experience as preceptor/mentor
- Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
