The role of the PEEL Business Partner (PEEL BP) is a key part of the new Force Insights Team (FIT). The FIT is designed to bring continuous insights to the performance, culture and practice of Surrey Police. The role being advertised is designed to bridge between the findings of the FIT and the operational business. Where the FIT is intended to find areas we would seek to be better in, the PEEL Business Partner is there to help to problem solve and deliver required changes. You will work closely with the FIT in order to understand where we can be better, then support the operational teams to understand and make any needed improvements in a sustainable manner.
In conducting this role, you will prepare the force to be in, and demonstrate we are in, the best possible light for the HMICFRS PEEL inspection. This role will need to connect and advocate across business areas on how their day to day activities link with and deliver Our Plan and relate to HMICFRS characteristics of good.
You will lead on relationships with the PEEL Inspectors to support their assessments in Surrey and seek best practice in making changes. Liaise with the CC and his staff office to establish his requirements, stylistic preference and deadlines. Engage with the business SMT in order to support them in any improvement areas.
Skills & ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you must be educated to a degree level or relevant experience performing at this level. An ability to evaluate the complexity of problems and identify and understand the root cause. Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment, connecting the links to other business areas/issues. Ability to diagnose the cause, propose options for resolution and proactively deliver the solution themselves or through others.
A knowledge and ability of contracting effectively and influencing at all levels. Be a confident communicator with an ability to engage, build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You must be able to manage and work with professional conflict to achieve positive organisational outcomes and to proactively embed the culture of continuous improvement.
You must have a competent understanding of managing projects and the ability to use and interrogate current and new system management systems. Also, you must have a sound understanding of HMICFRS and Policing and the context in which they operate.
You must be able to work flexibly across Surrey to meet requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential for this role, alongside good organising and influencing skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to plan workloads and support others to ensure that all tasks are completed to the required timetable.
