The ADHD Specialist Independent Prescribers manage and treat Adult ADHD patients with medication initiation, titration, stabilisation, and transfer to shared care.

We engage with patients through our secure digital messaging system, with occasional telephone or video consultations as needed.

As a self-employed prescriber, your role would be to prescribe medication, monitor patient response, adjust treatment as needed, and conduct end-of-titration review.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent and supplementary prescribing interventions, supporting Psychiatry UK Patients with medication initiation, review, and treatment decisions.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, identify side effects, and make informed prescribing changes in line with NICE guidelines (NG87) and Psychiatry UK standards.
  • Use validated screening and monitoring tools to ensure excellent patient care, working towards treatment optimisation.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records, working collaboratively with patients and Consultant Psychiatrists.
  • Ensure informed choice and ethical shared decision-making in partnership with patients.
  • Participate in out-of-office support to maintain the Titration Team's functions.
  • Undertake risk assessments and review safeguarding needs during ongoing patient care.
  • Management of patient caseload.
  • Adhere to Psychiatry UK response time SLAs (within 3 working days).
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Pharmacist.
  • Independent Prescribing (GPhC) accreditation.
  • One year post qualification secondary mental health service experience or further training or one year post prescribing qualification experience in Specialist ADHD service (Specialist ADHD experience can include working within private and/or NHS practice) or equivalent.
  • Advanced IT skills.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.

Additional Requirements:

  • DBS enhanced clearance.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage your own caseload, and adapt to the evolving needs of the service.
