Aon is currently recruiting a Power Risk Engineer to join its Natural Resources Risk Engineering team (ANRE). The position will be home-based in the UK, and you will be part of the global ANRE team.
The Power Risk Engineer will be primarily responsible for developing and providing risk engineering consulting services to internal and external clients in the Power sector, encompassing electricity transmission and power generation assets, including conventional and renewable technologies. The role will support Aon's power and energy client base.
What the day will look like:
- For allocated clients, lead the client relationship, develop opportunities, and deliver client consultancy services, including underwriting surveys at client premises and insurance market reports.
- Develop and provide clients with training seminars/workshops, technical support, and advice.
- Build and manage relationships and collaborate closely with Aon practice groups to identify and develop new business opportunities worldwide.
- Collaborate closely with Aon broking colleagues to support the placement of client insurance programmes; represent AERE in RFPs and in sales presentations to prospects and markets.
- Build and maintain relationships with the London and international energy insurance engineering community to promote AERE products and develop risk engineering programmes.
- Support the AERE service, practice and product innovation programme, including data analytics.
- Identify and evaluate potential project risks at all phases of a project lifecycle and propose technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers within Aon globally and provide guidance to the development of industry-leading technical procedures for the sector.
- Be the internal point of reference for engineering aspects of the transition to a low carbon economy.
Skills and experience that will lead to success:
- Significant experience working in the areas of power generation (conventional or renewable) or electricity transmission for a technical consultancy and/or for an asset operator.
- A university degree in an appropriate subject area - likely to be Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer and member of an engineering institution, or working towards this.
- Demonstrated ability to produce written reports upon quality standards, templates, and within deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills at all levels of an organisation.
- Good presentational skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to self-organize to deliver services and reports to company standards within agreed timescales.
- A willingness to undertake about 80 days of national and/or international travel per year.
- Flexibility and a willingness to operate outside of previous experience.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Commitment to continuous learning & professional development.
- Located within easy traveling distance of Aon's London Headquarters in the City of London.
