We are looking for x2 Restoration Engineers to be part of the growing Resilience and Emergency Management Directorate. This exciting opportunity will allow the post holder to understand and assess the most significant risks to the energy system, and work with Government and industry to mitigate them.
As a Restoration Engineer (L6) you will be providing assurance of the NESO's Electricity System Restoration (ESR) capability and creating the strategic direction for system restoration following a partial or total shutdown. You will also be liaising with multiple parties across the industry to develop and validate restoration strategies and plans to be enacted at times of extreme system distress.
This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

- Good understanding of different generation technology types including Thermal, Hydro, Wind, Solar, Storage and Interconnectors.
- Understanding on modelling (steady state, dynamic and EMT analysis).
- Experience of data handling and information analysis.
- Prior project management experience and stakeholder engagement skills are an advantage.
- Good level of competence in verbal and written communication skills - ability to write concise technical reports for a range of internal and external audiences.
A competitive salary between £45000 - £57000 p.a. - dependent on experience and capability.

Key Accountabilities- Provide input to restoration strategies and report on the impact and benefit of differing strategies.
- Support the contracting of new providers including providing technical advice on service requirements, the use of variety of generation technologies for restoration and network connection/liaison.
- Provide a technical assessment ability to compliment the commercial assessment of new providers.
- Carryout power system modelling and analysis.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Electricity System Restoration Standard.
- Ensure that the GB Transmission System infrastructure and procedures are adequate and sufficiently resilient to support the re-starting of the GB transmission system in the event of a major failure.
- Liaise across other NESO functions to ensure that ESR, system risks and resilience are understood and integrated into their work.
- Support the liaison with DESNZ and Ofgem and other industry forums on ESR.
