An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 8a principal clinical scientist role. This position would be in the North West GLH Manchester site. The individual must have extensive experience in genomic diagnostic delivery. In addition, they should have or be working towards FRCPath part 1.
Main duties of the jobYou will be required to show that you are dynamic and highly motivated with a proven, high level of scientific skill and expertise. You will be responsible for managing a team of HCPC registered Clinical Scientists to deliver and develop the diagnostic workload and to develop the workforce. HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist in the modality of Genetics is mandatory. You will have achieved success in the first written examination component of the FRCPath examination (Genetics, or Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics, or cancer genomics) or be actively working towards this.
The role will be based at our Manchester laboratory site. Person specification Qualifications- Must be State Registered Clinical Scientist in sub-modality of Genetics
- Must have written component of FRCPath part 1 in one of Genetics options
- PhD in Genetics/Genomics
- Evidence of ambition to progress career from past history as given in application
- Evidence of innovation work which has resulted in a service development (science or leadership)
- Evidence of managing and leading in a genetic laboratory section
- Evidence of reporting complex laboratory results correctly
- Evidence of proactive role in teaching or training
- Evidence of service development - research and translation to service practice
- Evidence of interest in professional by active membership of Trust, Regional and National Committees
