Kent is looking for a Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer who will be responsible for coordinating the production of engineering deliverables and providing progress reporting for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically supervises a team of engineers to address all discipline specific requirements within the project. May undertake discrete specialist studies / technology reviews under supervision. Liaises with other disciplines to achieve design consistency. Supports the Project Management Team in planning, identifying technical issues which could limit progress, impact project budgets. Interfacing with the client.

The Principal C&I Engineer is typically accountable to the Lead Engineer or Project Engineering Manager, discipline Lead Engineer and/or Project Manager, depending on size and complexity of the Project. Corporate reporting line is to respective Departmental / Group Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute C&I engineering design activities for feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC projects.
  • Be technically responsible for all C&I and Telecoms engineering work and allocate, supervise and direct preparation of project deliverables.
  • Formulate resolutions and supervise technically challenging issues, communicating effectively with Clients and Senior Management.
  • Review ITB documents in the proposals stage, prepare man-hour estimates and provide input to project execution plan.
  • Supervise, review and check the C&I and Telecoms activities including: Philosophies, Specifications, Shut Down Cause & Effect Charts, Schedules, Drawings & Diagrams, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions for long lead items.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract by raising technical queries with projects / client.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Contribute to multi-discipline Engineering Design Reviews and provide necessary C&I and Telecoms engineering input.
  • Identify scope of work and supervise preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR). Plan/schedule C&I and Telecoms engineering activities and manpower resource.
  • Support Procurement for long lead item enquiry, prepare Technical Requisitions, review vendor documentation and provide Technical Bid Evaluation support.
  • Ensure compatibility and conformance with client specifications and recommend cost effective improvements.
  • Consult Quality Assurance with quality issues ensuring compliance with Kent's ISO Quality procedures and Project Quality Plan.
  • Coordinate Internal and client audit requests and facilitate audit procedures of engineering systems.
  • Contribute to training and development of other staff.
  • Perform related duties as instructed by Direct Supervisor.

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Typically Master's Degree in Instrument or Electrical Engineering.
  • Chartered Status and significant related experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Excellent coordination, monitoring and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Tactful in resolving issues.
  • Exposure to Consultancy, FEED / Detailed Design and EPC projects.
  • Knowledge of international equipment specifications and costs.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.

Communication:

Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.
