Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Transport Infrastructure Engineering teams and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you'll deliver new systems and solutions. There's more to it than tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we're ready for the 21st century and beyond.

We are looking for a proven Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) technical leader specialising in the Electrical (LV) domain. You will need to be a clear communicator as the role involves shaping the strategic technical direction of the Electrical element of the TfL E&M asset base, ultimately supporting achievement of our anticipated integrated system outcomes, e.g. energy efficiency, safety, carbon reduction and cost savings, all with a view to building a strong green heartbeat for London, and keeping it moving.

Day-to-day, your focus will be on the delivery of high quality electrical engineering across TfL. This means designs, drawings, information, calculations and enhancements that keep vital, innovative and big-budget projects moving. You'll oversee electrical engineers making sure assets are safe, working and compliant; developing your and their own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.

You should be a member of an appropriate professional Engineering Institution (e.g. IET or CIBSE) with Chartered Engineer status, have expert Electrical knowledge within transport infrastructure and/or building services, along with a broad knowledge of the other E&M discipline, inclusive of associated HSE considerations within the transport industry. You should have expert understanding of relevant E&M legislation and associated local, national & international standards, and be able to make safety or high-risk network wide responsible engineering decisions for E&M assets and manage senior stakeholders in this area.

Accompanying this you will bring extensive knowledge of some/all of the following areas; design, construction, operation, maintenance, environmental considerations, E&M industry best practice etc. allied with the ability to complete assessments of E&M systems of varying complexity within a transport environment and be able to translate this technical knowledge in support of an operational business.

Leadership experience is a plus, particularly technical leadership where you've set requirements, standards and processes to achieve high quality engineering outputs. It's important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That's because, wherever you join us, you'll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We want to represent the city we serve, which will help us become a more innovative and efficient organisation. Our goal is to make our recruitment as inclusive as possible. We are a disability confident employer who guarantee an interview to any disabled candidate who meets all of the essential criteria. We also use anonymising software that removes identifying information from CVs and cover letters to make the process fair.

Application Process

Please apply using your most recent CV and Cover Letter.

We encourage you to apply for the position that is most relevant to your existing skills, knowledge and experience as shortlisting is carried out on the basis of how well you meet the criteria for the role.

In return for your commitment and expertise, you will enjoy excellent benefits and scope to grow.
