Job Description

Job Description:

  1. Project Leadership: Oversee and manage several Human Factors projects or programs simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Strategic Development: Actively contribute to the evolution of Human Factors strategies and methodologies, enhancing our EW capabilities.
  3. Capability Building: Participate in the development and expansion of our Human Factors expertise within the EW domain.
  4. Consultancy Excellence: Exhibit exceptional consultancy skills, leading project scoping, ensuring delivery within quality, time, and budget constraints, and identifying new opportunities.
  5. Proposal Management: Manage the creation of Human Factors proposals and contribute to multidisciplinary project proposals.
  6. Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical oversight to team members, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
  7. Client Relations: Build and maintain relationships with key clients, supporting the strategic direction of the Human Factors team to ensure continuous excellence in delivery.

Required Qualifications & Experience (You Really Must Have):

  1. Educational Background: Minimum of a Master's degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent significant professional experience.
  2. Professional Certification: Chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF). If not held, candidates must possess chartered status with an equivalent organization (e.g., British Psychological Society).
  3. Experience: Extensive experience delivering Human Factors solutions in mission-critical military systems, ensuring User-Centred Design and compliance with defence standards (e.g., JSP 912 and Def stan 00-251).
  4. Methodological Expertise: Proficiency in Human Factors methodologies, including but not limited to task analysis, usability studies, workload assessments, and error identification.
  5. Consultancy Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and scope projects, ensuring delivery to quality, time, and budget constraints, and identifying new opportunities.
  6. Proposal Development: Experience in managing the production of Human Factors proposals and contributing to multidisciplinary project proposals.
  7. Mentorship: Proven ability to provide mentoring and technical oversight to team members, contributing to role development and knowledge sharing.
  8. Client Engagement: Experience in building and maintaining relationships with key clients, supporting the strategic direction of the Human Factors team to ensure continuous excellent delivery to customers.
  9. Security Clearance: Active Security Clearance (SC) or the ability to obtain it.

Desirable Skills (It Would Be Nice If You Had):

  1. Experience working with MOD clients and military stakeholders.
  2. Experience in the design and evaluation of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  3. Familiarity with AGILE development methodologies.
  4. Involvement in developing and evaluating military training systems.
  5. Experience in aerospace projects.
  6. Conducting anthropometric and ergonomic assessments.
  7. Providing Human Factors input into safety cases.
