Principal Mechanical Engineer - Freelance

IC Resources is assisting an Essex based aerospace client who is looking for a Freelance Mechanical Engineer to join their team for a long-term project.

The Role

• 6 month initial contract with likely extension
• Inside IR35
• 1-2 days per week onsite

The Requirements

• Perform stress analysis using finite element techniques and hand calculations to assess mechanical designs for strength, durability, and safety.
• Create and maintain Finite Element Models and reports in line with company standards.
• Provide guidance on material selection and manufacturing technologies based on mechanical and physical properties.
• Conduct structural and thermo-structural analyses using Siemens NX for complex aerospace and defence products.
• Support mechanical design teams in developing structures that meet product requirements and performance criteria.
• Ensure compliance with military, civil, and contractual engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary stress engineering contact for assigned projects, advising on structural integrity from design to production.
