Job Description
Role Introduction

The Principal Product Owner is a portfolio and product feature/function expert who works closely with customers (and the market) to ensure needs are understood and prioritised. With a strong focus on maximising the value delivered, the Principal Product Owner applies their extensive Portfolio understanding of market and customer needs, to prioritise requirements and ensure the Portfolio Product Backlog aligns. This role suits someone who enjoys collaborating with customers, staying abreast of market changes, and is experienced working with Engineering squads at a Portfolio level.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities:

  • Represent the voice of the customer at Executive MetaScrum meetings
  • Lead customer problem definition workshops and gather customer feedback continuously
  • Collaborate to identify the impact of requirements against the Product Portfolio.
  • Visit customers & market representatives/events to review & challenge solution requirements
  • Collaborate using PENDO analytics to make recommendations for enhancements to the Product Portfolio.
  • Prioritise the Product Backlog with a focus on customer/market needs and stakeholder feedback
  • Lead Quarterly Delivery Planning and Release Planning in line with business, customer and market needs
  • Provide regular Roadmap progress updates to ensure key stakeholders are familiar with all roadmap initiatives, both internally and externally, can do this for a single product and a Product Portfolio.
  • Monitor key metrics that give insight into the Product Portfolio and sector.
  • Act as the product evangelist for the Product Portfolio providing an important link liaising between the customer, engineering, user interface and user experience teams.
  • Understand both the full capabilities and issues/limitations with the Product Portfolio
  • Discuss functionality with engineering and have a high degree of technical understanding of how the products work.

  • Excellent customer facing skills with the ability to represent the company in a confident and professional manner
  • An analytical approach to problem solving
  • A good communicator with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain a network of relationships with internal teams, external customers and others
  • Excellent people and collaboration skills
