We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team working on a key energy project supporting the UK's Net Zero goals. The role will primarily support the Lead Engineer, ensuring technical excellence in instrumentation and control design, compliance with national and international standards, and successful project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
Instrumentation & Control Design and Engineering:- Provide technical input for projects and proposals, ensuring compliance with industry codes, regulations, and client standards.
- Prepare, check, and approve engineering documentation for instrumentation and control systems.
- Develop equipment and materials requisitions for control systems, safety systems, analyser houses, field instrumentation, and other related equipment.
- Prepare installation scopes of work and review supplier quotations.
- Conduct technical bid assessments and liaise with suppliers and vendors.
- Full life-cycle development of control or protection systems.
- Software qualification of SMART devices and PLCs.
- Perform functional safety assessments and ensure compliance with safety integrity level (SIL) requirements.
- Support C&I ageing and obsolescence management strategies.
- Proven experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, ideally within Energy, Oil & Gas, or Infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of control systems, safety systems, field instrumentation, and industry standards.
- Experience preparing engineering documentation, equipment specifications, and installation scopes.
- Understanding of Functional Safety, SMART device programming, and PLC systems.
- Ability to review supplier quotations and conduct technical bid evaluations.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with engineers across various disciplines.
- Familiarity with C&I ageing and obsolescence management.
- Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (preferred).
- Knowledge of UK and international engineering codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
