The role is for a Privacy Officer. The individual must have a good understanding of all elements of UK Data Protection laws and regulation (including the DPA and UK GDPR), and have had some exposure to the data protection requirements of other jurisdictions. The role will be full time or 4 days per week and will be based in London.

The teamThe role will sit within the firm's Legal function, working closely alongside teams in Compliance, Human Resources, Operations, IT, Risk, Governance and Information Security.
What you'll doPrimary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in monitoring the firm's ongoing compliance with UK and EU GDPR and maintaining records of compliance and records of processing activities;
- Acting as a point of contact within the global business for privacy compliance, supporting local teams in each jurisdiction in interfacing with their equivalent data protection authorities / regulators;
- Taking a lead role in collaborating with the relevant business teams to produce data protection impact assessments, legitimate impact assessments and data impact assessments;
- Assisting the Group Privacy Counsel to find and deliver solutions to privacy related issues globally;
- Working alongside and advising/guiding the firm's data governance and security teams in maintaining the firm's data governance framework;
- Ensuring that developments in global data protection requirements and legislation are tracked and that the organisation is well positioned to comply with current and future requirements;
- Reviewing the firm's data protection policies globally and promoting data protection awareness throughout the firm via advice, training, and written materials;
- Assisting the Group Privacy Counsel with responses to data breaches and investigations into complaints about breaches of legislation, and processing, co-ordinating and responding to all requests for information (Data Subject Access Requests) - including maintaining a log of requests and responses, and incidents and remedial recommendations and actions;
- Handling enquiries from data subjects on issues relating to data protection practices, the withdrawal of consent, the right to be forgotten, and other related data subject rights; and supplementing the global Legal team's work in connection with data related legal initiatives / projects, and the review and negotiation of the data protection elements of the firm's general commercial agreements with third parties.
- Good understanding of all elements of UK Data Protection laws and regulation (including the DPA, PECR and UK GDPR), in addition to experience in relation to the data protection requirements of other jurisdictions.
- An ability to plan and prioritise workloads against a backdrop of changing priorities.
- Experience working (whether in employment, on secondment or as a consultant) as part of an in-house legal or data privacy compliance function in a financial services environment, in a role wholly dedicated to data privacy.
- Experience in advising asset management and private banking businesses on data-related matters, either as an English-law qualified solicitor or as part of a data privacy compliance team.
- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
- Very good interpersonal skills and first class written, presentational and organisational skills.
