Job Description

Our client was established in Exeter, nearly 50 years ago. From the outset, the firm had a commitment to the promotion of access to justice, particularly through legal aid. This continues to be an important element of who they are, but over time they have broadened the services they offer to include a full range of services for individuals and businesses.

They currently employ around 50 people and are hugely proud of their staff and their commitment to clients.

Our client highly values their links with business, community, and academic organisations across the city of Exeter.

They are striving to be more environmentally friendly in the way that they run their business and take issues of corporate social responsibility seriously. They were extremely proud to be the first ever winners of the Devon and Somerset Law Society award for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2016.

On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Private Client Lawyer.

About you:
  • Candidates ideally will have at least 3 years' experience of fee earning and managing their own caseload along with the desire to lead and support a small team.
  • This is a role with scope to develop an established team.
The successful applicant should be able to:
  • Produce a high-quality service, maintain excellent file administration, and work successfully with other lawyers and support staff.
  • Offer guidance, training, and supervision to less experienced staff members.
  • Offer comprehensive advice in Wills, Tax Planning and IHT, Trusts, Estate Administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Deputyships.
  • Manage individual and team targets.
  • A full Driving Licence is desirable.
In return:
  • Our client offers a positive working environment, active supervision, and investment in career development.
  • As a firm, they were committed to flexible working long before Covid, and they continue to develop work practices in terms of remote working and part-time and flexible hours.
  • Winners of the 2020 Devon and Somerset Law Society Employer of the Year and are proud of their recent contribution to The Law Society's best practice guidance for disability inclusion and involvement in the Law Society's Disability History Month.
  • They have a particularly strong track record in supporting staff development and progression.

Salary negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
