About Our Client
Global FMCG Brand, with operations across the UK and Internationally, that require a Procurement Category Manager to manage their packaging spend, based in the North West of England.
Job Description
The role of Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for:
- Category Strategy Development: Establish and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for packaging materials to meet business goals and optimize cost.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement in performance, cost, quality, and innovation.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives through negotiations, competitive bidding, and process improvements.
- Risk Management: Proactively monitor and mitigate risks related to supply continuity and market fluctuation.
- Sustainability and Compliance: Lead initiatives to ensure packaging materials meet sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as sales, marketing, engineering, and finance to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and innovations in packaging materials to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
The Successful Applicant
Ideally, the candidate will have the following background:
- Thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks.
- Previous experience in a Category Manager role or similar.
- Excellent working understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier development, and value chain mapping.
- Excellent working knowledge of allocated areas of spend.
- Understanding of contract principles and clauses and ability to construct and interpret agreements.
- SAP analytics and reporting.
- Degree level qualification, ideally business related would be desired but not essential.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Associate or student of CIPS is desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to occasionally travel through the UK and Overseas.
