Do you have strong copyediting and proofreading skills and enjoy networking with authors? We have an amazing new opportunity in scientific publishing as we have partnered with an established international publisher of scientific books and journals looking for a Production Editor for their London team.
Their office is in Central London, but they are open to consider hybrid and remote working arrangements.
The Production Editor will be responsible for liaising with authors throughout the publishing process to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and getting books ready for publication. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Authors to answer production queries, ensuring timely delivery of content and serving as the go-to expert for authors' questions.
- Check, proofread, and occasionally copyedit manuscripts to ensure they adhere to the house style.
- Engage in team meetings to discuss and update the progress of manuscripts, contributing your unique insights and ideas.
- Prepare back-cover blurbs and collaborate with designers to create eye-catching book covers.
- Keep the company database up-to-date with accurate book information.
- Work closely with your manager to develop and maintain the overall production budget.
- Dive into various ad-hoc projects and administrative tasks.
This role will suit someone with a keen attention to detail and a strong interest in networking with authors. They should possess some experience in editorial copyediting and proofreading, as well as the ability to work to in-house guidelines and editorial standards, ensuring high-quality manuscripts.
