Job Title: System Design Authority (SDA) - Test Solution

The Opportunity

Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a System Design Authority (SDA) for Test Solutions on a permanent basis at our modern and purpose-built Luton (Capability Green) site. SDA will need to be a talented and experienced Engineer, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF, Digital and analogue based) Test Solutions. The SDA will have had hands-on experience of designing complex Test Solutions for the full life cycle. The successful candidate must have experience of working with subcontract suppliers and subcontracting complex test solutions. Requirements capture for Test Solutions or main product would be a huge benefit.

The SDA role is within the EW business area, and will be supporting the production & development test solutions in the following lines of business:

• Combat Air (CA)
• Surveillance and Protection Technologies (S&PT)

You will be involved with Test Solution development and emerging technologies supported by Leonardo's Product investment in research and development. These projects will push the boundaries of innovation, technology, and the ingenuity of our engineering community to provide the required level of performance and capability of our airborne electronic systems.

The SDA will provide technical support and expertise to the project engineering teams, while ensuring the governance and quality for the projects' delivery. This role will allow the successful candidate to use their knowledge to understand the End User's needs and then help guide them in the definition and shaping of their future EW capabilities, and their future training needs.

This specific role will be supporting the following:

• Support to the Engineering Management of Test Solutions capability upgrades, the functional qualification of the updates, progressing to certification of the Test Solution enhancements.
• Be the engineering point of contact and Lead Engineer for the subcontract of complex Microwave test solutions.
• Be delegated by the business as the Design Authority & Company Technical Signatory for the required Test Solutions.
• Be a domain expert, in Test Solutions engaging with customers to define the technical solution.
• Ensure independent product assurance through Design Reviews and ensuring company procedures are adhered to.
• Be responsible for delivered Test Solution design, compliance, safety and integrity.
