Our Opportunity

Hitachi Rail GTS UK is looking for a Project Controller to join us in London, where you will have the chance to work on projects across the rail industry. You will be responsible for supporting the Project Management Office Team by providing an effective Project Control service for your projects.

This role works within our hybrid working policy - with a minimum expectation of two days per week in an office, primarily based in London.

The Planner responsibilities include:
  1. Be accountable for governance, deployment & reporting of Risk & Opportunity Management
  2. Be responsible for the independent assurance review and reporting process
  3. Lead on the assessment of risk and contingency in assurance reviews and activities
  4. Collect and monitor the use of 'lessons learned' as part of a continuous improvement culture
  5. Lead on the production of the monthly project reports
  6. Support the project contract review
  7. Provide guidance to Project Management Office team on the project comprising Planners and Project Support staff
  8. Ensure the correct and effective Project Governance is applied
  9. Ensure all Project activities undertaken comply with the relevant Hitachi processes
Technical skills:
  1. Project planning and scheduling (P6 scheduling, schedule maturity assessment and Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis - QSRA)
  2. Primavera Core Model
  3. Customer relationship Management
  4. Estimating & budgeting
  5. Schedule & resource management
  6. Risk & opportunity management
  7. Change control
  8. Project governance
  9. Business Intelligence (Power BI)
  10. Bid governance
  11. Schedule Construct & Resource Profiling
  12. Risk Management Concepts & Techniques
  13. Quality management
  14. Communication management
  15. Understanding of NEC contracts
  16. Knowledge on EVM (Earned Value)
Human skills:
  1. A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  2. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  3. An ability to embrace and encourage change
  4. Strong attention to detail
Qualifications
  1. A relevant certification for Planning & Controls is desirable (example is the Planning & Controls AMPG certification)
What to expect

We will aim to hold in-person interviews, in London. We aim to hold a two-stage interview process, which will focus separately on technical and behavioural competencies.
